Chaparral (2-D)

Alfa GTA and behind it a Ford Falcon that finished 12th overall, 148 laps behind winner!!

Porsche 6

MGB

Alfa GTA Harry Theodoracopulos and Sam Posey drivers

Ford GT MkII No. 6 Mario Andretti and Richie Ginther drivers (Too bad I didn't get the driver's face standing next to it)

That about wraps it up.

That MGB finished 17th overall!!!

Here's a site that has the program page of the starting cars and drivers. Amazing list of drivers.

Race results: I have that program that they show on this page.

I can't believe those are almost 42-year-old pictures. WOW. You were one lucky teenager, koa.

This car nut absolutely thanks you again for these pictures.

I lusted for the street legal 1967 Ford GT40 Mk III after reading a Car Life Magazine road test. Never saw one in person. The linked article pegs the then price at $18,500. An inflation calculator says that's equivalent to $118,000 in 2008 dollars. About $30K short of the MSRP of a 2005 Ford GT.

Thanks for the blast from the past, Koa!

It's funny, I've always had that $10,000. figure in my head. I guess to a 17 year old kid it didn't really matter much, it was all a dream anyway. My parents paid $14,000 for the house I grew up in.

The GT40 street car is just gorgeous. I saw one 'in person' in the Beaulieu Motor Museum in England back in the 80s. It is a stunning looking car. I really liked the looks of the new Ford GT but it is nothing compared to the curves of the GT40!

Dan.
